Position Information Position Title Postdoctoral Fellow in Health Economics and Policy Posting Number PTAP2371P Department/Unit School of Health Administration Location Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada Job Summary & Key Responsibilities The postdoctoral position is part of funded research projects from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research ( CIHR ) and the Canada Research Chairs ( CRC ) Program. The projects aim to investigate the impact of Canadian public policies on health outcomes and health equity and to evaluate the extent of equity in health and healthcare within Canada. The fellowship is an opportunity for recent PhD graduates to sharpen their analytical skills and advance their research agendas in health economics and policy evaluation. This position is for a postdoctoral fellow with experience and/or interests in policy and equity analyses using large population- level health surveys. In addition, the fellow is encouraged to develop his/her own research project within the funded project.
The postdoctoral fellow will work under the supervision of Associate Professor Mohammad Hajizadeh. The position will be located at the School of Health Administration at Dalhousie University in Halifax. The successful candidate will be expected to be mostly present in Halifax to facilitate timely progress on the project and ensure his/her integration with the school and Dalhousie.
Qualifications/ Requirements of Position PhD in Economics, Health Services Research, Health Economics, Epidemiology or a related quantitative discipline from an accredited institution. Other disciplines may be considered on a case-by-case basis, provided sufficient quantitative training and experience (e.g., medicine) or evidence of interest in health-related research (e.g., statistics). The PhD must not have been awarded more than three years before the position starts, and all the requirements for the position must be fulfilled before the start date.
Given the focus of the fellowship, priority will be given to candidates with experience in causal inference methods.
Proficiency with a general statistical package (e.g., STATA , R) is required.
English proficiency, as well as an ability to work independently and excellent communication skills (written and oral), are required.
