Our campuses reside on the treaty lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit and lands that the Anishinaabe, Hodinohso:ni, Lunaapéewak and Wendat peoples have inhabited for centuries. Reporting to the Provost and Vice-President (Academic), the Dean of the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences provides academic and administrative leadership to a diverse college of five departments and schools, consisting of Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics and Statistics, and Physics. The College is home to world-class research institutes, facilities and centres, and brings together leading scientists from around the world to solve some of society’s biggest challenges. The College is ambitious in its plans for strategic growth, including adding additional programs to the curriculum, and possibly re-structuring. The Dean encourages continued excellence in providing a comprehensive and interdisciplinary research and learning environment among faculty, staff and students, and unifies all members of the College around a shared vision.

The ideal candidate will possess a distinguished record of scholarship in a relevant discipline, several years of leadership in a university, and be eligible for appointment to the senior professorial ranks. Eligibility for licensure in Ontario as a professional engineer would be an asset. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to advancing equity, diversity, inclusivity, reconciliation, and accessibility, and effective management of human, financial, and physical infrastructure resources. Experience fostering innovative research and interdisciplinary collaboration and evidence of nurturing strong relationships is essential. An excellent communicator and decision-maker, the next Dean empowers the highly productive and committed group of faculty, staff, and students, and brings a track record of leading through complex change. They also bring significant experience building partnerships with government, industry, donors, and alumni.
