About this opportunity:
The Credit Analyst is responsible for credit adjudication and risk management of the Asphalt & Industrial Products segment and support for other segments. This position will be responsible for proactive underwriting, monitoring credit risk exposure, negotiating contracts, collateral and credit terms within the Asphalt & Industrial Product. The analyst is also responsible for maintaining strong relationships across those in the primary segment and with external counterparties. The Credit Analyst will work alongside other Analysts covering various segments and has the opportunity to develop and cross-train with others.
What you’ll do:
Perform credit assessments through proactive analysis of financial statements and related information to identify risks and recommend credit limits with the company’s credit policies.
Identify, recommend, and obtain collateral from counterparties to mitigate credit risks.
Monitor compliance to approved credit limits by identifying and reporting credit policy deviations including over-limit situations and taking appropriate actions to address over-limit situations.
Build strong working relationships with key stakeholders including but not limited to Marketing, Logistics, Accounting, Supply Billing, Legal and External Counterparties.
Monitor and report on credit exposure and collection KPI’s, working with Collections and others to improve working capital and reduce or mitigate risk.
Negotiate the credit-related aspects within Asphalt & Industrial Product contracts and collateral.
Link with other internal groups to support processes such as Know Your Counterparty screening, master data, invoicing and dispute management, cash application and collections.
Who you are:
Two to five years of progressive experience in credit risk evaluation or commercial lending.
Familiarity with commodity contracts, collateral and mitigation instruments.
Strong financial analysis skills, organizational, prioritization and change management skills
A minimum of intermediate proficiency in Excel and Word.
Working knowledge of SAP an asset.
