Senior Accountant - Job Costing - 6 Month Contract

Job description
RESPONSIBILITIES, ACCOUNTABILITIES AND DELIVERABLES
- Lead accounting for % completion (manufacturing) with detailed documentation around decision-making for revenue recognition and accruals. Setup and lead monthly review meetings with operations for month end
- Track Costs for timely revenue recognition of Startups, Freights and Subcontracts
- Lead Job and Work Order close out
- Assist AR with Project Billing and Revenue Allocation
- Assist Controller with Month End Close process, Reporting, Audit and Tax as required
- Prepare journal entries (incl. adjusting entries), monitor and control GL coding accuracy
- Maintain, improve and reconcile detailed lead sheets with supporting documentation for all balance sheet and key income statement accounts. Update monthly checklist for Trial Balance level account review
- Preparation, planning, communication and execution of interim + annual inventory counts; accurate measurement, costing and valuation-related policy and practice across all warehouses
- Ensures integrity of financial systems, general ledgers, and sub ledgers and identifying ERP system enhancements to maximize productivity and accurate reporting
- Review Payroll and Benefit payouts, work closely with HR to ensure accuracy of payroll and benefits payouts and ensure accuracy in terms of entries booked at the GL level
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Target profile has 5+ years of professional work experience with hands on accounting work.
- University degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
- Professional designation (CPA) preferred
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite – (i) set up workbooks / spreadsheets with clean, traceable formulas so reviewers can easily follow your work and (ii) manipulate large datasets, pivot, cut, clean and then present for decision making
- Strong IT and ERP systems knowledge – deep understanding of accounting integration with line-of-business applications, ability to drive ERP improvements through design, ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- The ideal candidate also has some, but not all, of the following:
- Experience working in an industrial manufacturing or service company, with exposure to standard costing
- Experience with both corporate income and state / provincial sales tax across Canada and the US
- Experience working with Power BI and/or SQL databases
