Job description
Techmation Electric & Controls is currently seeking a Production Optimization Technician to join our Dawson Creek branch. Individuals must be knowledgeable about current OH&S legislation, and conversant with the industry standards and practices of today’s safety-focused oil & gas sector. This is a 5/2 shift with no camp available. Due to the nature of the work, candidates must live within commuting distance of Dawson Creek, BC.
Reporting to the Production Coordinator, the Production Optimization Technician is responsible for day-to-day production optimization and associated activities, near Dawson Creek, BC. This role is accountable for ensuring that production is maintained while identifying opportunities for increased performance.
Responsibilities of the Production Optimization Technician include:
- Identify base production issues and uplift opportunities using historical and instantaneous well data
- Oversee performance of various forms of artificial lift systems throughout field(s) – PAGL, plunger lifts, rod pumps
- Obtain various forms of wellbore data (ex. Fluid shots) as directed by Production Engineering
- Oversee and organize all operations-driven well intervention tasks and work closely with the Completions department on well workovers
- Act as wellsite supervisor for basic slickline/wireline work – de-waxing, BHA inspections, bailing, etc.
- Work closely with the Completions team at a field level on various activities around new well development
- Work closely with field operations team to support technical requests, determine wells of concern and collaborate on go-forward actions
- Report on previous days’ activities along with go-forward plans during production update reviews
- Work with field operations and metering/measurement staff to ensure well testing is executed as per schedule
- Provide information to senior leadership related to various well performance on an ‘as-needed’ basis.
- Assist the Production Coordinator in setting monthly cost estimates and provide input to yearly budget reviews
- Working closely with the Remote Operations Center, drive production performance monitoring and optimization
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of direct work experience in upstream oil and gas operations.
- Must have well-developed knowledge of production monitoring and accounting programs
- Experience with Cygnet, Canary, ProCount & WellView would be considered an asset
- Must have current Standard First Aid Level 1, Energy Safety Canada H2S Alive and CSO certificates
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work within a team environment is essential
- Must be self motivated with the ability to work alone and complete routine tasks
- Must live within commuting distance of Dawson Creek, BC
