Transdev Canada is hiring a Transit Bus Driver for our Abbotsford location
Your role
- Drives one of several different transit or company non-revenue vehicles in a safe, courteous, and reliable manner throughout the contracted service area within a daily assigned time schedule.
- Maintains a strong attendance record.
- Performs pre/post-trip vehicle inspections as required.
- Possess a functional knowledge of the demographics of the service area.
- Stops at designated points to load and/or unload passengers.
- Assist in the boarding of passengers using wheelchairs or other mobility aids and is required to properly secure wheelchairs and scooters.
- Notifies dispatch of deviations, overload, accidents, passenger incidents, medical/behavioral problems, or bus mechanical/electrical trouble.
- Ensures that fares are deposited into the fare box and dispenses information. Advises passengers of rules and regulations when necessary.
- Completes and submits written reports concerning passengers and all accidents.
- Operates on-board computer destination signs.
- Assumes any and all other duties assigned.

Your profile
- You hold a High School degree.
- You have a class 2 or 1 driving license is preferred, a class 5 driving license is accepted, if willing to obtain a class 2 driving license within 3 months of hire (Training is provided).
- You have a clear driver abstract, background check and drug test.
- You have transit experience, an asset.
- You have good verbal communication skills.
- You possess the ability to read, write and speak English.
- You possess the ability to work under stress and meet strict timelines.
- You possess strong communication skills and can converse with passengers and dispatchers/road supervisors including use of a 2-way radio and PA system.
- Ability to push/pull tension of at least 50 pounds and ability to bend and stoop/kneel to assist passengers boarding and securing in wheelchairs/scooters and/or to retrieve equipment.
Your location
- This is a casual unionized position.
- There is a requirement to work between 4:30 am to midnight (operating 7 days a week)
