Job description
General Accountability and Purpose
The Associate Insurance Specialist (AIS) plays a pivotal role in supporting the Insurance Protection Specialists(s) in all aspects of business. In addition to providing administrative and office support services the AIS will actively develop and grow their own book of business over time.
Duties and Accountabilities
· Schedule appointments and prepare and organize necessary documentation for member meetings and review.
· Act as a point of contact for client queries, respond to and investigate client questions and concerns, resolve client complaints, and escalate issues appropriately.
· Follow up on referrals and provide comprehensive information on insurance products to members and the public.
· Create and meticulously maintain member files, ensuring accuracy and compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
· Assist in the preparation and processing of applications and documentation, liaise with insurance providers for policy underwriting, issuance, and administration.
· Process bill payments promptly and prepare a diverse range of activity reports for FirstOntario Credit Union management, Insurance Protection Specialist(s), and Credential Regional Offices as required.
· Manage incoming and outgoing mail efficiently and provide support for courier and fax services.
· Meet with members to review their account, identify opportunities that successfully address the member’s needs and provide relevant product solutions.
· Achieve individual goals of client service, sales and growth while contributing to the achievement of the Insurance Protection Specialist’s overall sales and growth goals.
· Collaborate in building and nurturing relationships with FirstOntario Credit Union management, staff, Members, and other stakeholders, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
· Adhere to compliance rules and regulations and ensure strategies comply with regulations and meet client objectives.
· Stay updated on industry trends, regulation changes, and organization policy & procedures and best practices.
· Performs other related duties as required.
Nature and Purpose of Contacts and Relationships
Internal:
Establishes and maintains effective communication and cooperation with Insurance Protection Specialist(s), Sales Development Managers, Credential Regional Offices, Credential Head Office, and other CFS staff.
External:
Establishes and maintains effective communication and cooperation with FirstOntario Credit Union members, managers, staff, suppliers, and other stakeholders. Meets with Members as required.
Qualifications
· Post-secondary education in a Business, Business Administration careers program.
· Experience as an assistant in an office environment dealing with internal and external contacts.
· Completion of the Life Licensing course is required. (LLQP)
· General investment and insurance industry knowledge and awareness of the Canadian Credit Union System are highly desirable.
· Demonstrated skills include: excellent telephone and organizational skills, excellent typing and grammar skills combined with strong interpersonal and verbal communications skills. Experience with working with all major types of office equipment. Familiar with personal computers and a full range of knowledge of Microsoft Office products (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
