Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Summer Camp Leader is responsible for designing and coordinating activities for the YWCA Saskatoon Summer Camps. Working closely with a Physiotherapist, they will ensure an enriching experience for participants. The Camp Coordinator will be responsible for creating the curriculum for and leading children's day camps. The Camp Leader should feel comfortable addressing large groups, interacting with young children, and making decisions under pressure. They will oversee staff hiring, manage day-to-day operations, and prioritize the safety and well-being of all campers. To be successful as a Camp Leader, you should demonstrate excellent stamina and leadership skills, and a friendly, positive attitude. Top candidates have a growth mindset, are team players, and possess stellar communication and deliberation skills.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Designing and coordinating age appropriate activities for Summer Adventures
- Collaborating with a Physiotherapist to integrate therapeutic elements
- Assist in staff recruitment and hiring
- Ensuring campers learn in a safe, fun and stimulating environment
- Leading and directing other counsellors to plan various activities
- Managing day-to-day operations of the summer camp program
- Maintaining open communication with parents/guardians
- Developing and adhering to all camp policies and procedures

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- CPR-C and First Aid certification
- Enrolment in or completion of a Kinesiology program or related degree is considered an asset
- Previous experience working with children in a camp or recreational setting preferred
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Successful completion of a criminal record check
