This well-established, boutique Ontario law firm in North York is a leader in personal injury law, represents clients in their personal injury, insurance, accident benefits, product liability, and medical malpractice claims, among others. Our client is looking to fill a Senior Tort Law Clerk position immediately. For those living in the North York surrounding area, this is an ideal growth opportunity for your permanent full-time position with a hybrid schedule.

Your new role  

As a Senior Law Clerk, you will be providing high-quality legal support to one partner and occasionally the Managing Partner in handling complex personal injury cases. You will be responsible for managing over 100 active files and ensuring timely communication with clients, medical experts, and opposing counsel. You will also be responsible for docketing all work performed using Leanlaw software, keeping lawyers informed and prepared for upcoming calls, meetings, and court appearances, conducting file reviews and ensuring files are progressing and handled efficiently, serving documents and ensuring all medical reports have been obtained and organized, identifying files ready for settlement and drafting settlement proposals, drafting legal correspondence, mediation and pre-trial memorandums, motion records, and statement of claims when necessary, summarizing timelines and reviewing medical reports and making the Partner aware of vital information.

What you'll need to succeed  

To be successful in this role, you will need a minimum of 5+ years of experience in personal injury law, with practical knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure and relevant case law. You will also need strong attention to detail and accuracy, respect for confidentiality and professional ethics, excellent organizational and time management skills, ability to multitask and thrive under pressure, team player attitude and willingness to help others, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and Leanlaw. Experience with Primafact and FileVine is considered an asset. Full systems training will be provided.

What you'll get in return  

You will receive a competitive compensation package that includes a salary range of $80,000-$90,000+ based on experience, 4 weeks of vacation per year, and discretionary bonus based on firm performance annually. The employee pays LTD but has company paid benefits of health and dental, 6 sick/personal days per year, the week of Christmas off, and education reimbursement upon approval in a related area.
