In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director, Strategy performs a key leadership and change management role for strategic and operational initiatives within the portfolio. These initiatives involve large-scale reviews of practices, procedures, systems and structures leading to the enhanced integration of services, better service delivery, improved customer satisfaction, development of new programs, and the delivery of cost-efficiencies for the portfolio and its partners. The Director provides leadership in the development and implementation of detailed change and engagement plans, decision support, service planning, and the assessment of the climate for change. The Director provides direction to project resources to ensure the scope of work is completed on time and on budget. The Director leads others toward the achievement of project and operational goals through effectively communicating the vision, coordinating resources, advancing priorities, and promoting collaboration and commitment of key interest holders. The Director supports project work groups and committees and is the key point person for achieving integration of project findings/recommendations. Key contacts are with senior leaders across Island Health, as well as interest holders at all levels to consult, negotiate and ensure commitment to project and operational goals. Liaises with external agencies such as the Ministry of Health for planning and reporting purposes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training And Experience

A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Master's degree in health administration, business administration or related Master's degree, with more than 10 years' recent, related experience that includes budgeting, implementing strategic and change management plan, and facilitating and managing consultation processes with a wide range of interest holder groups (including the public, senior and middle management, physicians and staff). Demonstrated commitment to on-going learning and professional development.
