Unit Summary
The Cancer Genetics Clinic at the Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre (JHCC) provides centralized genetic counselling and assessment services to patients across the Hamilton Niagara Haldimand Brant Region as part of the Regional Cancer Program.
The Genetic Assistant will monitor, track and triage incoming cancer genetic referrals. Their role supports the cancer genetics team, which includes medical oncologists and genetic counsellors, with aspects of case preparation, follow up, patient and physician queries, and maintenance of department databases.
Schedule Work Hours
Monday to Friday, days
Bachelor Degree in related field (i.e., Science, Biology, Genetics) and/or relevant experience in a genetics clinic
Knowledge of basic genetics
Strong communication skills
Strong organizational skills
Ability to work in multidisciplinary setting
MS Office, Word, Excel, Outlook
Proficiency with pedigree software and EPIC EMR preferred
Demonstrated multi-tasking and prioritization skills
