We are looking for a Mechanical Technologist - Wind Tunnel to support the Aerospace Research Centre. This person would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.  

 

As a Mechanical Technologist - Wind Tunnel, you will work as part of the 1.5 m Tri-sonic wind tunnel Operations Group of the Aerodynamics Laboratory, providing mechanical support to the facility and assist in the coordination of wind tunnel testing.  

 

Throughout a wind tunnel test program, you will be responsible for providing mechanical support related to test development and preparation, test execution, and post-test activities. All aspects of these tasks will be performed under the framework and guidance of our ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS), particularly our existing work procedures, which ensure proper calibration, installation, and verification of operability prior to use during testing. You will further improve our QMS by helping to identify and create new or missing work procedures. All tasks will adhere to safe work procedures, including lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) to ensure work place safety.  

 

Additionally, you will participate in activities related to improving operational efficiency, test methods and tunnel maintenance by providing feedback to the Operation Supervisor and during wind tunnel test close-out meetings. This position will appeal to a person who is well organized, who is task and detail-oriented, and who enjoys working as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver excellent client service.

Education

Diploma from a post-secondary institution in a technical, engineering or scientific discipline related to the position, or an equivalent combination of work-related experience, training and education.

Compensation

From $58,445 to $80,040 per annum.
