This is an opportunity to join one of the most innovative and collaborative teams in the City of Toronto, the Digital Transformation team in Toronto Children's Services.

 

We provide strategic leadership in digital client services and process transformation for the Children's Services Division. Our goal is to help families with young children and support Early Learning & Child Care organizations in Toronto. Join us in Full Stack Software Development for web applications that support the childcare needs of families with young children in Toronto. We use over 50 tools for front-end, back-end, database, cloud, and cybersecurity development, such as modern JavaScript, Angular, React, Java, PostgreSQL, AWS, REST API, and microservices. You will experience professional software development practices such as Agile/SCRUM, UX prototyping, application design, automated testing, DevOps, CI/CD, AODA, SAST/DAST, and penetration testing. Work alongside experienced software professionals, and receive coaching on design, code, and more.

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Assists with designing, developing web applications that run public cloud (AWS) and private cloud (OpenShift). 
  2. Assists with designing responsive UI/UX and developing app prototypes. 
  3. Assists with developing test scripts and perform testing, including unit, system, and performance tests.
  4. Assists in Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous deployment (CD) configuration using toolchains.
  5. Research software technologies to create prototypes for demonstration. 
  6. Assists with troubleshooting and debugging issues. 
  7. Assist with drafting documentation. 
  8. Participate in product team daily scrum meeting. 
  9. Participate in special events and conferences as opportunity allows. 

Key Qualifications

  1. Currently enrolled in, or a recent graduate of a post-secondary degree or diploma program in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, STEM program or any IT related programs.
  2. Experience with software development using at least one of the following: JavaScript, React, Angular, Java, cloud, REST APIs, UI/UX Design, DevOps, cybersecurity, mobile app development. 
  3. Good communication skills, both written and oral, and interpersonal skills. 
  4. Strong ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment with cross-functional teams. 
  5. Excellent investigation, research, and problem-solving skills. 
  6. Excellent organizational and time management skills, including attention to detail, ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and work effectively with minimal supervision, deal with conflicting priorities and work demands.
