Job Summary:

The School of Creative Arts (SoCA) is seeking an interdisciplinary practitioner or scholar to fill a full time permanent position as an Assistant Professor in the Media Arts program. The School is particularly interested in candidates who can make contributions to the Media Arts program’s Applied Interactive Media or Digital Art concentrations, with a particular focus on interactive technology, especially in the realm of gaming. In this role, they will teach technology and its ethical implications, integrate theory and practice, foster critical thinking in digital media, and mentor students with diverse career goals. The ability to develop and teach across various programs within SoCA, particularly in dynamic, interdisciplinary settings, while seamlessly incorporating practical application and theoretical concepts into courses at every tier of the Media Arts program is beneficial.

The ideal candidate will also possess substantial leadership experience in one or more areas of media arts and a strong background in pedagogy, curriculum development, or the scholarship of teaching and learning, with a focus on digital media technologies in education. The position entails developing and promoting experiential learning initiatives to enhance student employability. This includes creating industry partnerships for work integrated learning initiatives, cultivating strong ties with industry collaborators, organizing platforms to display student work to industry experts, coordinating field trips, and inviting guest speakers. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills will be needed, in order to act as a bridge between the School and industry and artistic partners. This position will require outstanding communication skills, project management skills, self-motivation, and the ability to take initiative, as well as the capacity to get others excited and involved in projects and events. Evidence of scholarly activity, such as invited presentations at conferences and publication in appropriate, peer-reviewed journals, is an asset.
