About the role
Join the central finance function as the Bilingual Director, Finance Planning and Analysis where you will be responsible to lead a team that consolidates the financial plans/budgets, financial forecasts and actuals and applies a company-wide lends to advise the Deputy, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Financial Officer and Executive Committee on the overall financial state of operating and capital budgets.
This position serves as the authority on the consolidated operating and capital budgets, company cost structure and costing processes. The role also Chairs and serves as Finance’s representative on the internal governance committee that evaluates and manages access to new funding, serves as the subject matter expert on financial authorities related to Corporate Plans and sources of funding.
What you’ll do:
- Developing and facilitating the long-term and short term strategic financial planning process in collaboration with senior management to align financial goals and identifying risk to financial cost structure with CMHC's strategic objectives.
- Leading the annual budgeting process, which includes collecting, analyzing, and aggregating data from various sectors to create the budget and overseeing regular forecasting efforts and consolidating quarterly forecasts. Setting the frameworks for which the related work is to be performed.
- Presenting results of Corporate Plan, Quarterly forecasts, projected operating and capital budget lapses to senior management to inform decision making, allocation of resources and budget re-alignment.
- Establishing and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of CMHC's strategic and operational objectives and the use of operating and capital budgets.
- Leading the development of and championing future financial strategies and policies by identifying emerging issues, trends and opportunities, researching and analyzing their implications, and developing solutions such as strategies regarding market positioning and new finance initiatives (investments, strategic initiatives, etc.)
- Leading a large team, delegating responsibility and accountability while building capabilities within a division. Engaging the team to work together as one to deliver integrated solutions to the company.
- Developing the team’s objectives and taking responsibility for engagement, enabling a culture of learning, performance management and accountability for a division while encouraging bilingualism and inclusion of a diverse workforce.
- Liasing with central agencies and CMHC’s portfolio department regarding the Corporate Plan, financial authorities and other matters.
What you should have:
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) - mandatory.
- An undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, business administration, economics or commerce or in a related Finance field.
- A minimum of 13 years of experience in various aspects of financial management including, forecasting and budgeting , cost allocation, internal management reporting, obtained via a senior financial management role(s).
- A minimum of five years of leadership experience with direct supervision.
- An extensive experience presenting to senior leaders, with ability to negotiate to deliver difficult messages, both in English and French.
- The ability to think forward, make linkages across various financial aspects and provide financial solutions when there is little precedent.
- Thorough knowledge of Treasury Board and Department of Finance guidelines and knowledge of IFRS accounting standards.
It would be great if you also had:
- MBA or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
