Roots and Wings Distillery is a family owned craft distillery near Fort Langley in the Township of Langley, BC, Canada. We grow the potatoes and corn that we distill into our small batch gluten-free spirits - vodka, gin, whiskey, and infusions. Our tasting room offers sampling and purchasing of our artisan spirits, or they can be ordered online for delivery within British Columbia or purchased from select private liquor stores in British Columbia.
Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Outside sales and New Business development. The Outside sales and New Business development will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of sales operations, managing customer service inquiries, and ensuring effective communication between departments. They will also be responsible for the day-to-day tasks associated with sales.

Responsibilities, including but not limited to:
● Lives and leads company core values, vision and strategic plan.
● Management and Guest First Culture Development– works with GM in driving wholesale results,
inspires team to create lasting experiences; assists all beverage sales objective.
● Ensures consistent quality in all sales operations through high team production standards, and
best practices.
● Supports the ownership and leadership group in planning and budgeting process by providing top priorities in the areas of sales, inventory and forecasting. Meets or beats sales budget Monthly, Quarterly, Annually.
● Reviews monthly, quarterly and yearly financial reports with accompanying analysis of results in
support of the ownership, identifying variances, initiating corrective actions to deliver profitable results within the sales operations.
● Provides input and recommendations for new products and continuous improvements by
analyzing leads, pricing, packaging, and process changes; surveying consumer needs and
beverage trends and tracking competitors in market place.
● Meet regularly with ownership and team to establish sale schedules, seasonal, special releases.
● Ensure inventory of products are adequate to meet demand.
● Monitor inventory levels of other inventories such as promotional material, merchandise and
legally required signage.
● Coordinate all delivery needs of customers with ownership and ensure adequate
communication if required on discrepancies or stock levels.
● Maintain up to date profiles on all customers including BrewNinja and Quickbook platforms.
● Ensure proper flow of all relevant paperwork, sales orders, invoices, stock movement and
discrepancies.
● Updates job knowledge by remaining aware of new operational and leadership processes,
government regulations; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional
publications and maintaining strong community and business relations.
● Maintains and develops customer relationships.
● Helps organize and maintain wholesale delivery system.
● Maintain effective communication with the wholesale customer base by phone, email, newsletters
and in person as required to adequately support customers needs and hit sales targets.
● Other duties as required and assigned.
Shift Responsibilities:
● Ensuring that checklists and proper record keeping functions are being completed each day.
● Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to provide clear communication to the
ownership group.
JOB DESCRIPTION - Outside sales and New Business development
● Observe performance and encourage improvement where necessary. Continuous opportunity for
training.
● Attend meetings communicating pertinent information to the operations staff, such as priorities,
new items or changes of sales needs.
● Communicate with guests, customers and employees using a positive and clear speaking voice,
listen to and understand requests, respond with appropriate actions and provide accurate
information.
● Remain calm and alert, especially during emergency situations and/or heavy business or
production activity, serving as a role model for the staff and other employees.
● Ensure basic standard operating procedures are in place and are in compliance with all
regulations and Roots and Wings Distillery own practices. (e.g. Food Safe, Serving it Right/ Responsible Beverage Service)
● Interact positively with customers and staff. Resolve problems to the satisfaction of involved
parties. Maintain rapport with all departments and attend relevant meetings.
● Maintain cleanliness of sales areas on a daily basis.
● Solicit feedback from customers and sales accounts concerning the service and beverage
offerings.
● Participate and assist tasting tours for customers, as well as help at distillery special events both in house and on location when required. Help execute special events and attend functions when required.
● Maintain wholesale customer lists with frequency of orders and values.
● Research, help and grow the customer base, establish and follow efficient delivery schedules.
● Does not make a promise that cannot be delivered.
● Data entry of sales orders & invoices.
● Maintain customer information files & update as required.
● Deals effectively with customer complaints and ordering issues.
● Liaises with production manager and assistant to keep correct delivery and inventory levels.
Required:
This position requires a solid combination of business management with industry related Distilling
knowledge, strong communication and leadership skills and attention to detail.
● Post-Secondary diploma/degree in Business, Hospitality preferred
● Minimum 2 years’ experience in similar, high-volume environment
● Valid driver's license
● Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications
● Demonstrated service and beverage management skills, business management acumen, product
and production knowledge, strong communication and leadership skills
● Entrepreneurial drive and proven success in growing a business
● Demonstrated strategic thinking, problem solving, and solid judgment/decision making
competencies
● Ability to maintain sales with open, honest, mature communication including effective participation
in departmental meetings
