Worley Canada Construction is seeking a Material Planner to work in our growing Procurement group at one of our Project Sites, Mod Yards or Home Office
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for managing the entire material flow process from Estimating to Procurement to Material Receiving
- Process Coordination – integration and leadership of materials management planning and execution activities across the project functions.
- Project Materials Requirements Planning – identifying, quantifying, scheduling, and managing materials requirements based on Construction/fabrication demand, facilities/systems completion sequence, Engineering deliverables, and Project Materials acquisition and delivery cycle times.
- Coordinate and participate in the development of Construction Work Packages (CWP), Advance Work Packages (AWP) and Procurement Work Packages (PWP)
- Oversee the accurate and timely data entry into the materials management system (AVEVA ERM) based on engineering and procurement activities: bills of material, material take-offs, purchase orders, receiving
- Steward reporting on information pertaining to materials across different functional groups, including status reports and material lookaheads
- Ownership of working material takeoff data into client PO’s within ERM
- Requesting client material according to schedule inputs and construction feedback
- Working knowledge of material document management (MTRs, Heat Number Traceability, etc.) and ability to interpret standards, specifications, and drawings (isometrics, general assemblies, etc.)
- Coordinate activities related to overage, shortage, and damage (OS&D) and ensuring material shortage issues are addressed correctly, subject to receiving OS&D reports
- Work closely with purchasers to ensure compliance with client specifications and reimbursable material process/requirements
- Responsible to work with key external stakeholders, client representatives and when called upon, act as a Worley representative in Client meetings.
- Hosting of materials management meetings with stakeholders
- Site Materials Management – safe and timely receipt, storage, preservation, handling, distribution, and disposal of Project Materials. Storage Optimization, implement efficient storage layouts to maximize space utilization and facilitate easy access to material.
Qualifications:
- Expertise in Excel (advance level) and Data Analytics, Power BI etc.
- 5-10+ years of experience in a similar role
- Completion of post-secondary education in supply chain, business, or industry related trade certification is required
- Experience in an industrial construction environment strongly preferred
- Extensive knowledge of and confident user of Material Management and Procurement systems (Aveva Enterprise Resource Management Systems or equivalent SAP, JD Edwards, Site Sense etc.)
- Good understanding of material specifications and standards (e.g. ASME, ASTM, etc.)
- Ability to identify problems/issues, and look beyond the immediate problem to the wider implications and generate possible solutions
- Team player with the ability to work in a multi-functional work environment
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Detail oriented and highly organized
- Proven experience in prioritizing and multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment
