Piping Engineer P.Eng.
JNE Consulting (USA) is a full-service, multi-disciplinary engineering and construction services firm headquartered in Hamilton, Ontario with offices in Pittsburgh, PA, Detroit, MI and Auburn, AL. Our experienced and specialized teams work globally with a diverse client base from concept through to engineering and procurement, and provide construction and project management services.
We are currently seeking a full-time Piping Engineer P.Eng. for our Hamilton, ON office. The successful candidate is required to have proven competency with piping and equipment design using theories, engineering principles, experience, and technical knowledge. The candidate is also required to have strong problem solving and design skills that follow all applicable regulations, industry, and company standards.
Role and Responsibilities
- Successfully execute piping design projects
- Develop process flow sheets and/or design piping and equipment layouts, coordinate general design approach
- Approve flow sheet components, hardware and/or proprietary items
- Perform and check engineering calculations for the sizing and selection of pumps, heat exchangers, and pressure controlling devices
- Approve components and equipment and approve specifications generated by other team members
- Suggest solutions to inconsistencies in design specifications or design requirements to Project Managers and initiate corrective action
- Perform reviews and / or check critical design calculations, stamp drawings as required by legislation, standardization, policy, or customer requirement
- Approve drawings and content
- Approve overall approach to detailing
- Approve required specifications for design package
- Approve special reports, suggest unique solutions, participate in discussions with Sr. staff
- Develop discipline manpower schedules
- Develop project budgets, schedules and quality standards
- Monitor changes in scope of work
Qualifications and Education
- Engineering Degree, University Level
- P.Eng. required (CDN)
- 4+ years relevant working experience
- Ability to think logically and creatively
- Organized and self-directed, task and goal oriented
- Effective, efficient, and professional in the execution of all required tasks
- Knowledge of additional engineering discipline
- Ability and desire to learn new software, applications, knowledge, and skills
- Familiar with AFT Fathom/Arrow for analysis of piping systems
- Experience applying CSA B149.1, ASME B31.1, ASME B31.3 and ASME BPVC Section VIII in industrial settings
- Steel/Mining Industry experience (asset)
