Reporting to the Automation Supervisor, the Automation Technologist Coop will be assisting in the development, installation and maintenance of the plant automation systems, equipment and scales. This position is also responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable codes and regulations while applying Cargill's best practices.

Principal Accountabilities:
Troubleshoot electronic issues for production equipment as needed (assisting mechanics/operators or conversing with vendor technical support)
Manage the workflow process associated with assigned tasks (daily workload tracker, entering in SAP data, creating work orders, submitting parts request, communicating turnover information).
Assist in the development / implementation / startup of new equipment and the preventative maintenance procedures to maintain electrical related equipment/components
Assist in developing and updating PLC and HMI programs as required based on established guidelines and controls for this type of equipment
Work with governing agencies to ensure the accuracy of our measuring devices
Work with corporate engineering, networking and IT groups to ensure the plant remains in compliance with current and future guidelines
Environment

The plant environment is team oriented, fast paced, and hands-on. Cargill's environment will focus on employee engagement, inclusion, and innovation. Students are given the opportunity to apply their skills and gain hands-on experience working on various projects from designing and upgrading current systems, to reviewing and updating plant drawings. This job involves physical activity which generally requires a moderate amount of exertion – involving bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, reaching, working on irregular surfaces, occasional lifting of objects weighing over 50 pounds and frequent lifting of 10-25 pounds. The work may also involve other exertions, conditions or exposures (i.e.- heat, cold, grain dust, etc.) Our Programming

Work terms are paid and are at least 16 weeks in duration. Co-ops are paid hourly for time worked. Co-ops are responsible for transportation to and from work. Co-ops who demonstrate outstanding performance and a curiosity to learn more may be offered an internship, co-op or full-time position to return the following year. Our Benefits

Guelph, ON Required Qualifications
Pursuing a diploma in a field including or related to an Electrical Engineering Technology or Industrial Electrician program with an interest in Process Controls, or pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering; graduating between December 2024 and August 2026. Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada
Ability to work in cold environments and communicate with plant departments regarding electrical related issues (Production, Safety, Food Safety) Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures Able to complete 4 month co-op starting May 2024 Must possess a high degree of initiative and resourcefulness in completing work with limited guidance
Excellent written and oral communication skills Preferred Qualifications

Previous plant, production, co-op, or intern experience preferred
Ability to relate technical knowledge to job-related duties
Demonstrated ability to solve problems and make decisions independently
Demonstrated leadership skills
