Category Professional - Calgary Our client, an industry leader in the Natural Resources and Energy Sector has asked Sean Baker of MacDonald Search Group to assist them in the search for a Category Professional. In this role you will play a crucial role in managing the acquisition of a wide array of goods and services from external sources.
Reporting to your Category Manager, you will oversee supplier lifecycle management, including sourcing, supplier relationship management, contract creation, and vendor score carding. Your combined strategic and tactical expertise will help to drive innovation, create savings and reduce TCO. Your ability for big picture thinking, challenging the status quo will help you to succeed in this exciting role.
In this role you will have the chance to be involved in:
- Developing and executing both long term and short-range strategic plans
- You will build strong relationships with internal customers and external business partners
- Assess and mitigate risk within your scope of the supply chain
- Create RFP’s, lead bid process, award contracts and evaluate supplier performance
- Take part in any needed dispute resolution and work to find creative solutions
- Lead CI initiatives and find innovative solutions to problems
- Provide input into new supply chain procedures and processes
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of Category Management, preference for those 10+ years in supply chain
- Must have project-based experience from the natural resources or energy sector.
- Wide scope of experience within procurement including strategic sourcing, contracting, vendor maintenance, TCO analysis, supplier performance evaluation etc.
- Strong analytical, cost modeling, and project management skills
- Degree in Supply Chain Management or related field such as law, engineering, business plus preference for those with an SCMP.
- Proven negotiation skills and strong communication abilities
- Above average communication skills including verbal and written.
- Ability to multi-task, understand urgency and determine priorities is a must have skill.
