Primary Responsibilities - Responsible for all aspects of Quality for the facility, including systems (Management System) and results (internal and external costs of quality).
- Supervise Quality Engineer and/or Quality Coordinator. Motivate, develop and evaluate employees; help manage projects, priorities and resources to meet goals.
- Work with the Plant Management Team to support strategic planning and policy deployment initiatives to drive organizational improvement.
- Lead and champion continuous improvement by engaging with manufacturing operation personnel and coaching teams, utilizing lean manufacturing techniques, Kaizen principles, problem solving, statistical process controls and other quality tools.
- Establish and lead the deployment of Process Management to improve process stability and performance (In-Control and Capable) through the use of tools such as process flow charts, Pareto charts, fishbone diagrams, process and product FMEA’s, control plans and control charts.
- Manage the Customer Feedback system to review and respond to customer complaints in a timely manner, analyze customer returns and ensure implementation of permanent corrective actions. Liaise with Customer Service, Sales, Manufacturing and Engineering regarding customer quality requirements and issues.
- Prepares departmental budgets and ensures conformance.
- Maintain and continuously improve the Quality Management System, including the Quality Manual, the Document Control System, internal audits, supplier quality management programs, control of nonconforming material, etc.
- Prepare for, and represent the company during all second and third-party quality audits.
- Travel as necessary to customers and suppliers to support problem resolution.
- Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications - Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical, Industrial or Quality Engineering, Statistics or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in manufacturing or related field.
- Strong computer skills (ability to type, Word, Excel, Power Point, Microsoft Access, Minitab).
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply basic statistical techniques, metrology, inspection and test methods.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings (blue prints).
- A strong professional image, ethical standards, integrity, objectivity, confidence and dedication to internal and external customers.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills and strong Interpersonal skills.
- Capable and effective at being able to communicate Principles of Process Management and statistical tools in a user-friendly manner to manufacturing personnel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of ten years of work experience in Quality Assurance or Operational Excellence combined with a demonstrated track record of accomplishments and with satisfying customers in a decision-making position in a previous management or supervisory position.
- One or more ASQ professional certifications: Lean CMQ/OE, CQA, CQE, Six Sigma Black Belt.
