About the Company
Our client is sourcing for a Senior Cost Accountant to join their team.
About the Opportunity - Determine costing for new products including raw materials, labour and overhead allocations
- Update system bill of materials as necessary in addition to costing and recording of new bills of material
- Lead the implementation team for new scanner software for tracking materials and shipments
- Contribute to the review and entering of daily production reports
- Oversee and record inventory transfers to the various company locations
- Analyze profit margins for individual customers and products and follow up and explain material variances
- Calculate and record landed costs of incoming materials and products
- Analyze variances and trends in overhead costs and recommend adjustments to Bills of Materials as needed
- Perform periodic inventory counts as needed and reconciliation to software and analyze variances
- Oversee year-end inventory counts for all locations and reconciliations with the company’s auditors
- Provide ad-hoc assistance to other projects
- Ensure proper financial operating procedures are being followed
About You - Bachelor’s Degree in accounting / Finance with a Professional Accounting Designation
- 5+ years of progressive financial accounting experience
- Cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
- Must be passionate about investigating and reporting, and show a deep interest in mathematics
- Critical thinker with a strong attention to detail
- Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Experience identifying and implementing process improvement initiatives
- Proficient in Microsoft excel with experience in advanced functions
- Knowledge of Sage 300 software considered an asset
