Online Content Analyst (Contract - 10 Months)

Primary Function:
This role assumes responsibility for the execution of online tactics designed to optimize and enrich the representation of products on The Online Content Analyst will report directly to the Sr. Manager of Merchandising and is an affiliated team member of the Merchandising and MSM team. This role will work closely with our Sr. Manager of Merchandising, to execute the day to day operations of online merchandising and taxonomy management. This role is a full-time position based out of our 123 Commerce Valley Drive East, Thornhill, ON.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
This role is responsible for the execution of the strategies and tactics associated with optimizing the way product categories are presented and merchandised online. Responsibilities include:
- Maintaining and optimizing the online product hierarchy as part of the NPI workflow.
- Ensuring online hierarchy efforts are aligned with efforts from several key internal business partners, including the Online Merchandising, Product Management and STEP/hierarchy teams
- Determining the optimal way to group and merchandise like products for display online; executing and maintaining the online grouping strategy
- Partnering with product management team members to enforce the consistency of the online product representation, focusing on but not limited to:
- Product descriptions
- Product Hierarchy and categorization
- Technical attribute selection & population
- Category product images
- Additional product meta data
- Develop and maintain promotional and seasonal product hierarchies.
- Benchmarking the online shopping experience versus its competitors; translating findings into strategic action.
- Assisting in the testing and integration of new online and offline features and functionality
- Collaborating with our Product Management French translation resource will maintain the French hierarchy and product movement changes
- Pull extracts for web and merchandising product data and hierarchy data based on ad hoc requests to support team members of the eCommerce team.
Job Requirements:
Preferred Education & Experience
Must have 2-3 years of experience in large, multi-channel organizations with:
- 2-3 years of related eCommerce, product merchandising, or product management experience
- Proven success working in teams with dynamic, analytics-driven, multi-channel work environments
- Understanding of Product Information Management systems and product data management methodologies; experience with Stibo Systems (STEP) is an asset.
- Experience collecting and managing product-related digital assets (product imagery, PDF documentation, etc.)
- Experience with faceted on-site search engines; Endeca or Solr a plus.
- Experience with the interpretation and analysis of web analytics
- High attention to detail / proven organizational skills
- Familiarity with product taxonomy research; demonstrated ability to translate research into tactical actions
- Strong communication skills, detail orientation and business acumen
- High-level knowledge of the MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) industry and industrial products a strong plus
- Adept at prioritization and multitasking
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Strong systemic thinking and problem solving skills
- Demonstrated interpersonal and relationship building skills
Strong Microsoft Office skills
