The Issues Coordinator is responsible for the ongoing operational coordination of branch correspondence, issues management and support for the daily operations of the Executive Director, Prevention of Family Violence and Abuse Branch (PFVA) within the Child Care and Preventive Family Services Division. The PFVA Branch is a dynamic, results-oriented office that requires the Issues Coordinator to perform at an exceptional standard. The incumbent works independently to research, draft, coordinate and process all Action Requests (ARs) and other requests for information from the Minister’s office or intended for the Minister. This position anticipates issues and identifies solutions related to communication and coordination between units, on behalf of the Branch and at times with stakeholders to support knowledge exchange on behalf of the Branch. . The Issues Coordinator reviews all branch ARs prior to forwarding for appropriate sign off and coordinates responses to client calls received in the Minister’s office. The incumbent ensures briefings/ARs/presentations succinctly identify issues, meet quality standards, and aligns with the government and ministry’s policy or position, and develops systems to continuously improve the quality and timelines of ARs and other processes within the PFVA, including supporting the ADMO. Requirement:
A related post-secondary degree in Social Sciences, Administration, Business Communications and two years of progressively responsible related experience in issues management and/or writing and editing in public or private sector is required. Experience within a government correspondence environment and/or Action Requests Tracking System is preferred. Equivalencies will be considered.
Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
• 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
• 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
• Experience with issues resolution and a collaborative, customer focused issues management approach, in a fast paced environment.
• Experience and knowledge of project management theory and process improvement practices Policies and legislation related to child intervention, early learning and child care, and early childhood development.
• Strong working knowledge of government/division initiatives, protocols, strategic direction and priorities.
This is competition will be used to fill 1 position located in Edmonton, and hours of work are Monday to Friday - 36.25 hours per week.
