LOCATION

Waterloo, Ontario

This is a hybrid role (remote & in-office) as the hiring team will require the student to come to the Waterloo office approximately 3-5 days a week.

PROGRAM TERM

4 months position (May 6, 2024 – August 30, 2024)

THE ROLE

As an Embedded Software Engineer Co-op, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the embedded software for the AMD's MA35D PCIe card. You will develop efficient industry exclusive automated tests that will aid the infrastructure of our firmware.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

• Develop and debug automated tests to detect regressions
• Profile and optimize embedded software for performance and memory usage
• Create tools and scripts to measure and analyze performance metrics
• Design and implement software components
• Ensure high quality firmware in line with product roadmap and timeframe

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

• Development of production-quality embedded software
• Increase knowledge in modern C++, docker and test driven development
• Exposure to video encoding
• Communication skills
• Teamwork

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

• 3rd year student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field/discipline
• Returning to school following the co-op term
• Knowledge in debug and development of embedded software

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Knowledge in modern C++ and Linux
• Multi-processor synchronization and communication
• Familiarity with Docker and GIT
