Manitoba Economic Development, Investment, Trade and Natural Resources is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Aquatic Invasive Species Operations Coordinator within Fisheries Branch. The Aquatic Invasive Species Operations Coordinator is responsible the evaluation, supervision, coordination, and implementation of the Provincial Watercraft Inspection Program. Operating under the mandate of the Water Protection Act, the Watercraft Inspection Program is a large-scale and complex program which aims to prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species (AIS) within Manitoba by intercepting high-risk watercraft and performing watercraft inspection and decontaminations at strategic locations. This includes hiring, training, scheduling and supervising a large number of seasonal staff who operate inspection stations in all regions of the province; conducting program evaluations to adjust and enhance the program as required to contain AIS invasions and best service the needs to Manitoba; implementing policies and procedures; and managing data collection and analysis. The successful applicant will also use their technical expertise to provide critical operational support to other programs within the Aquatic Invasive Species Unit such as the Monitoring, Certified Service Provider, Early Detection & Rapid Response and Public Engagement Programs.
