Our client in is seeking qualified applicants for the position of National Health, Safety and Environment Manager . The National Health, Safety, and Environment Manager will be responsible to lead our Health, Safety and Environmental programs at a national level, ensuring our operations are provided with best-in-class safety and training programming. What we offer:
- Salary: $130,000
- Work Location: The job can be based in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia or North York, Ontario
- Hours of Work: Monday to Friday – 8:30am to 5pm
- Full Time, Permanent with benefits.
What you do:
- Establish, maintain, and oversee key safety policies and procedures.
- Work closely with operational safety teams to promote safety and reduce incidents.
- Create, update, and offer training on safe working policies and procedures.
- Oversee the train the trainer program.
- Ensure the Company is up to date with safety-related regulatory requirements for transportation of dangerous goods.
- Establish incident targets and monitor against performance.
- Monitor / assess HSE performance in different areas, identify patterns and develop initiatives that will improve performance in these areas.
- Be a change agent, promoting and educating drivers, field HSE personnel, operating staff and others on needed change.
- Establish and oversee incident investigation protocols.
- Conduct major incident investigations and work with operational safety on minor incident investigations.
- Mentor and coach regional HSE management and coordinators.
- Oversee safe driver programming such as driver scorecard program.
- Develop, launch, and support national safety programming and campaigns.
- Act as a customer liaison on safety matters.
- Advise on and respond to safety requirements in customer contracts / RFPs.
- Develop and provide regular reports relating to health and safety activities.
- Participate in customer meetings and audits as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Who are you:
- 5-10 years' experience in the oil and gas industry is an asset.
- Must have worked with hazardous goods.
- Previous experience maintaining policies and procedures is an asset.
- Previous experience developing new policies and procedures is an asset.
- Previous experience in a Health and Safety position is an asset.
- Previous experience in a management position is an asset.
- Previous experience with incident investigation is an asset.
- Experience in the transportation industry is an asset.
- Experience with the transportation of dangerous goods is an asset.
- Proven ability to deal productively with internal and external customers.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong desire to challenge status quo and be a catalyst for positive change.
- Well organized, detail oriented and a proven ability to work well in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills – verbal and written.
- High level of computer literacy
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
- Strong organizational skills.
