Microelectronics Manufacturing Process Engineer for Celestica Newmarket MEL (Band 7 IL)

The Celestica Newmarket Microelectronics Assembly Lab (MEL) Manufacturing Process Engineer will enjoy a stimulating and challenging work environment with opportunities to develop new skills while working in a highly motivated team. The ideal candidate should have experience working in a manufacturing environment. We are looking for a team player who is able to learn quickly, is self-motivated, has excellent analytical and communication abilities and is comfortable performing repetitive tasks in a manufacturing environment while fully suited up in a clean room. The candidate will be part of the Microelectronics Assembly Lab team. The Manufacturing Process Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, deploying and optimizing processes for manufacturing to achieve quality cost and delivery goals for Celestica and its customers products. Assignments are received in the form of results expected. Possesses broad knowledge of operations and policies. May provide functional guidance to others performing similar work and/or provide project or task leadership. May be considered the expert in areas assigned. Builds strong internal and external relationships that require exchanging information and providing explanations in a problem solving capacity. Interfaces regularly with persons of higher positions.

Position involves working with product specifications, schematics and mechanical drawings; engineer assembles, inspects, tests, debugs, repairs and/or modifies MEL products.  These operations are unique within Celestica and a tour of the Microelectronics Lab can be provided upon request before or after the interview. Good problem identification and troubleshooting skills required.

Detailed Description

Representative Activities:

• Programming, operation and troubleshooting of computer controlled robotic equipment for manufacturing of microelectronic devices (wire bonder, die bonder, glue dispensers, microscopes, ovens, and other equipment)
• Development of and documentation of processes and procedures
• Attendance and discussion at weekly department meetings
• Analysis of results using microscopes and electrical test equipment
• Ability to use hand tools and power tools required for assembly

Additional Details

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

• Design, develop, and implement new manufacturing processes to support customer products.
• Develop application software and tooling for a series of complex machines and mechanical process steps within a manufacturing sector.
• Execute with support, capability of machines and process steps using Design of Experiments and statistical methods to ensure maximum utilization of critical resources, maximum throughput, minimum cost and capacity growth; involves integrating equipment, people, material flow, and information systems.
• Solve technical product, process, component, and related problems that affect the efficient operation and/or manufacture of products.
• Provide feedback to product designers on suitability of designs for manufacturability with supervision.

Physical Demands

• Duties of the position are entirely performed in a noisy, “Clean Room” manufacturing environment with frequentexposure to machine operations and chemicals (mostly IPA and adhesives)
• Duties may require extended periods of sitting and standing and sustained visual concentration on equipment and computer monitors
• Duties of the position require physical effort and exertion including prolonged repetitive motions, sitting in confined workspaces, using tools and equipment, and moving and handling materials
• Duties require wearing clean room apparel at all times which includes face masks, gloves, hairnets, safety  glasses, coveralls, ESD shoes and protective foot booties during the entire shift.
• Shift: Primary Morning Shift however shift flexibility and overtime is required
  

This position is 100% on site inside the Clean Room, this is not a remote or hybrid role.

Typical Experience

• 1-3 years of related experience.

Typical Education

• University Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
