House Parent – Summer Programs

We are seeking energetic and enthusiastic House Parents to provide a caring and nurturing environment for our overnight Summer Camps.

Reporting to the Boarding Coordinator, the House Parent acts as the primary caregiver for Summer Camp boarders and is responsible for ensuring their safety and wellbeing. This position requires spending time with boarders and staff to establish a rapport based on mutual trust, respect, and understanding.

Work Schedule:

June 26, 2024: required orientation session.

July 2 – August 16, 2024:

Typical weekday shifts are 4pm to 11 pm, and then 7am to 9am the following day. Typical weekends often involve overnight off-campus trips. You will be expected to work an average of approximately 40 duty hours per week. In addition to the duty hours, House Parents are required to be on call in the boarding house at least three evenings per week, between the hours of 11:00 pm and 7:00 am. Being on-call involves remaining in the boarding house during the on-call hours.

Criminal Record Check:

Must pass and maintain a clear Solicitor General criminal record check for the purpose of working with children.

SMUS Camps will deliver summer boarding camps for students aged 12-17 between July 2 and August 16, 2024. There is a four-week English Language Learners camp and four one-week camps in basketball, volleyball, music and Rugby.
