Job Description

• Help roofers to Install or replace asphalt shingles, wood shingles and shakes on sloped roofs of buildings.
• Instruct apprentices.
• Help to remove asphalt shingles on sloped roofs.
• Work with roofers installing underlays (ice and water shield, synthetic paper, tar paper).
• Work with roofers installing miscellaneous flashings (dripedge, valley, chimney, wall).
• Help to install asphalt shingles with pneumatic air nailer.
• Help the crew members to install roof vents, exhaust hoods, plumbing stack flashings, etc.
• Help to measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
• Work with carpenters to fit and install trim items, such as doors, stairs, moulding and hardware
• Help to maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments
• Assist in framing houses, erecting walls and building roofs
• Load, unload and transport construction materials
• Clean and pile salvaged materials
• Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites

Requirements:

Education: Not required

Experience: A minimum of 7 months of experience in the trade is required. On-the-job training will be provided

Experience with a pneumatic air nailer is an asset

Valid driver’s license is an asset

Language: Basic English is required

Salary: $24.00 per hour, 30 – 40 Hours per week.

Benefits: Hourly bonus for work on steep pitch roofs ($2.00 extra per hour). Accommodation available at a discounted rate. PPE and Transportation to and from the worksites is provided by the employer. Transportation costs covered if worker needs to relocate.

Important information: This position will require flexibility on schedule. From Monday to Friday, regular shifts start at 7:45 am and could be 8-10 hours long depending on the tasks to be completed on the day. Overtime and work on weekends may be required depending on the business needs. **We guarantee at least 30 hours of work per week regardless of the weather**
