An exciting opportunity is available for an Industrial Control Systems Technician/Technologist to join our Automation team working out of our Hamilton, Ontario office.
The successful candidate will work on a team to provide technical and project support to our clients’ Operating and Maintenance departments relating to Control Systems, Instrumentation, and Safety Instrumented Systems. The successful candidate will provide and apply scientific and technical knowledge to ensure the stability and continuous improvement of products, manufacturing processes, and facilities.
Responsibilities
- Specify equipment and perform design in the area of Control Systems, Instrumentation, and Safety Instrumented Systems.
- Lead the installation, commissioning, start-up, and troubleshooting of control systems.
- Deliver projects in a safe manner, on time, and within budget.
- Coordinate projects or execute designs with minimal guidance in a multi-discipline environment.
- Develop specifications and standards based on legislation, industry standards, and plant requirements.
- Assess and report on emerging technologies to peers and customers.
Job Requirements
- Advanced knowledge of the terminology, principles and theory related to:
- Process Control
- Instrumentation and Control Valves
- Control Systems (PLC, DCS, SCADA, HMI, PAC)
- Process Analyzers & Sensors
- Process Control Safety
- Combustion Safety
- Electrical theory
- Network Architectures & Operating Technology Security
- Variable speed AC and DC drives
- Application of Control Systems and Instrumentation in Manufacturing Process Technology
- Experience, project coordination, equipment reliability, construction engineering, technical analysis and design, problem identification and solving
- Knowledge of regulatory codes, standards, and specifications
- Strong project engineering coordination skills
- Strong analysis and problem solving skills
Qualifications, Skills, and Education
- 5+ Years industry experience.
- Related University/College degree/diploma required.
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, communication and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated results.
- The applicant must possess a valid driver’s license.
- (TÜV Rheinland) an asset.
- Certified Automation Professional (CAP) an asset.
