Job Description:Job Description Summary The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the company’s overall logistics and warehousing strategy to support the delivery of goods and services to the organization’s customers. The Supply Chain Manager shall be responsible for keeping the organization at the forefront of the industry with respect to best practices, procedures, and processes helping to create efficiencies and drive out cost from the business. Core CompetenciesCustomer FocusCommunication SkillsQuality OrientationTime ManagementAdaptability/ FlexibilityCreative and Innovative ThinkingDecision Making and JudgementPlanning and OrganizingProblem SolvingResults FocusAccountability and DependabilityEthics and IntegrityMediating and NegotiatingProviding ConsultationLeadershipCoaching and MentoringStaff ManagementEnforcing Laws, Rules and RegulationsMathematical ReasoningDevelopment and Continual Learning Job Duties/ResponsibilityDevelop and execute the overall logistics and warehousing strategy liaising with the managers of Procurement, Production, and Customer ServiceDevelop logistical processes and establish ongoing improvement plans for freight management, vendor routing, and carrier managementEducate oneself and implement industry best practices in supply chain, logistics, warehousing, and fulfillmentDevelop, implement, and monitor key performance metrics for supply chain, warehousing, transportation, shipping and receivingLead a team of three Supervisors and ~15 shipper/receiversOrganize staff training, development, and performance reviewsManage the departmental staff payroll in PayworksHiring of warehouse staff for the logistics teamConduct profit and loss management for the company's supply chain and logistics function; manage logistics budgetNegotiate with and manage contracts and service level agreements for third party suppliers and/or service providersWork with the inventory planning personnel to minimize shortages and improve inventory positions and turnsWork with managerial peers to find labor, workflow, and process efficiencies helping to improve service levels and drive out costsProvide monthly updates on the status of projects and give progress reports on other process improvement initiativesDeep understanding of WMS systems, workflows, challenges, and opportunities to drive efficiency in order fulfilment and warehousingLeverage the power of our warehouse management system to find opportunities to create new processes and workflowsConstantly seeking new technology, innovations, and systems to help improve productivity and resultsProvide administration for the warehousing system and regularly review performance expectationsWork with the sales team to reduce freight cost for new and existing businessResponsible for the maintenance and use of all the forkliftsA strong team builder who can galvanize a team creating optimal working conditions for employees and supervisorsCommunicate and liaise with all 3 Crownhill locations in terms of supply chain and logistics functionsCommitment to health and safety within the working environment ensuring employees needs are put first and that the operation meets Provincial and Federal guidelinesActively promotes awareness in health and safety to prevent injuries and accidentsCommunicate, observe, and execute standards for safe working conditions as outlined in the Occupational Health & Safety Act as well as rules and regulations outlined in the employee handbookMeet with the team on weekly basis to discuss current and future business, have open discussions with team RequirementsPost-Secondary education in Business or Related Field5-8 years of direct work experience in a supply chain management, logistics, and/or warehousing, preferably within a 3PL environment.Experience managing a 3PL warehouse, e-commerce or omni-channel, considered an asset3+ years in a leadership roleDirect working knowledge of supply chain, operations, warehouse management, inventory control, and transportation managementStrong knowledge of ERP systems, as well as Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPointStrong working knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems and innovative technology in the logistics and warehousing spaceExperience in managing third-party logistics providersSolid project management skills are essentialExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsGood financial and business awarenessStrong written and verbal skills to communicate with all levels of the organization and its executive teamStrong customer service orientationTeam player Working ConditionsSome travel may be requiredAbility to attend and conduct presentationsManual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripheralsOvertime as required Crownhill is one of the largest distributors of quality packaging products in North America, with offices and state-of-the-art facilities in Toronto, Collingwood, and Chicago and have been creating custom packaging solutions for over 30 years.
