Job description
Tyndale is a Christian university that prepares leaders for work in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors, ministry and the global mission of the church. POSITION PURPOSE
The Human Resources Administrator will support key HR programs on a day to day basis and provide front line support to employees and managers. The HR Administrator will work autonomously and efficiently to ensure the end-to-end running of assigned HR projects and operations. The projects will be varied and may change from month to month thus the incumbent needs good project management skills and strong organizational skills. The Administrator will also provide excellent customer service to those in the Tyndale community with HR inquiries.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
HRIS
- Liaise with the HRIS provider for initial and ongoing knowledge transfer associated with implementation and subsequent product updates.
- Develop and maintain procedures and workflows for processes within the HRIS.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure improved consistency between the HRIS and Tyndale’s business needs, policies, and procedures.
- Coordinate and administer the Performance Evaluation process on the HRIS.
- Coordinate and process key annual compensation events (Cost of Living Adjustment, Faculty Step Increases, Salary Adjustments, etc).
- Assist with the configuration, design, testing, and implementation of new HRIS modules.
- Administer existing and new security profiles/access permissions, ensuring confidentiality of employee data.
HR PROJECTS
- Produce ad hoc reports as required, including organization charts and other HR reports (i.e., government reports, staff lists, recruitment activity, compensation related reports, vacation and over time reports etc.).
- Work with Accessibility committee to carry out various projects.
- Conduct research and surveys as needed. In addition, the administrator will need the skills to compile this information in a way that is readable and accessible.
- Produce metrics reports with regards to recruitment, turnover rates, employee satisfaction, etc.
- Monitor and evaluate projects including data collection, report writing and analysis of relevant data.
HR SUPPORT
- Manage the administration of benefits and Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring effective coordination and execution.
- Administer day-to-day HR functions (business cards, cheque requisitions, work eligibility renewals, expenses, etc.)
- Assist with the development of internal interdepartmental applications and associated HR processes.
- Assist with providing administrative and operational support to the recruitment and onboarding processes when needed.
- Assist with coordinating employee events (e.g. Christmas Celebration. Service Award Ceremony, Take Our Kids To Work Day, etc.) to improve employee engagement, promote a positive work environment, and ensure effective employee relations.
- Assist with the matters of employment accommodation.
- Support administering employee in-service training program (First Aid & CPR, Health & Safety, AODA, etc.), including managing RSVP’s, room bookings, and catering.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
a) Education
- Degree or diploma in Human Resources
- Working towards or completed CHRP is preferred
b) Experience
- 2- 3 years’ experience in HR with some experience in HRIS, employee relations, or HR Administration
- ADP WorkForce Now is an asset
c) Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of applicable government legislation, policies and procedures
- The ability to analyze facts and assumptions and apply effective problem-solving skills
- Ability to plan and implement projects with an eye for long term sustainability. Project management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential, with a strong ability to analyze and manage data independently.
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and develop effective and innovative solutions.
- Effective verbal and listening skills with ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy
- Strong organizational and administrative skills, with strong attention to detail

e) Physical and Mental Demands
- May have to work odd or long hours on occasion to assist with HR events
- Occasional lifting of heavy items (e.g. boxes of files, training material, etc.)
- Sitting and using office equipment for a long period of time, often requiring focus and attention to detail.
- Ability to work with interruptions
- May encounter challenging people from time to time. Important to maintaining a calm and professional demeanor; listening to the customer’s needs.
Salary Range: $38,000 to $43,000
