Job description
Sunterra Retail office team members work day to day to support the busy operations in our stores. The Purchasing team is involved in many parts of the business particularly the procurement process. Professionalism, the ability to multi-task, strong teamwork skills and passion for food and service are requirements!
We are looking for an enthusiastic person to join our head office team. As a Purchasing Assistant you would be responsible for a variety of tasks in the procurement process including liaising with purchasing accounts managers, analyzing data and trends, preparing reports, coordinate order purchases and coordinating with our teams internally (stores and Head Office) to ensure all order shipments and discrepancies are accounted for.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Support the designated category managers in the buying and claiming processes, invoices validation, margin review and price changes
- Compile orders from the stores and communicate to the suppliers, tracking shortages and planning next day deliveries, making sure the products are available at the stores
- Analyze and report on purchasing metrics, creating standard and ad hoc reports
- Make recommendations for and develop and implement reporting to improve the reporting environment for Purchasing
- Maintain prepaid inventory report and others reports related to rebates, bottle deposits, seafood monitor, etc.
- Perform price check with the competitors and build executive reports to present the data to the Purchasing team and the Senior Management Team
- Update recipes in Microsoft Access:
o Creation of recipes, recipes updating, ingredients list updating, preparation method transcription and updating
o Continuous communication with the Standardization Chef to follow all the recipe standards set by Sunterra Market and the Canadian Food
Inspection Agency
o Update Nutrition Fact Table, Ingredients and Allergen declaration
- Ensure that all data entered in the computer system is loyal to the source, accurate and well written
- Various other duties may be determined, understanding that Sunterra operates in a very strong team-based atmosphere
Qualifications:
- Candidate with Post Secondary education and/or relevant experience considered a strong asset.
- Intermediate level Excel skills
- Experience in Purchasing and Retail industry is a plus
- High attention to detail & accuracy
- Sound analytical thinking, planning, organization, prioritization, and execution skills
- Resourceful, energetic, and strong work ethic.
- Excellent written and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced multitasking environment.
- Professional and approachable, positive with a can-do attitude.
- Willingness to work as a part of a team, across a variety of initiatives
