Position Overview

Under the general direction of the MANAGER, PHARMACY, and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of St. Boniface Hospital, the PHARMACIST is responsible for performing clinical and distributive activities: ensuring that drug therapy ordered for inpatients and outpatients is safe, efficient and effective; clarifying medication orders and intervening when appropriate; verifying drug orders on a patient’s profile; overseeing the processing of prescriptions and sterile products and approving the final products; compounding sterile and extemporaneous products as required; promoting safe medication practices; performing therapeutic drug monitoring on selected patients and educating patients on medication use; assisting in the training/teaching of new pharmacists, support staff, and students, and participating in educational sessions; and performing other related duties as assigned.
