To be successful in this role, the HRIS (Workday) professional will have proven experience in the following areas in a complex, high-volume environment; preferably in the professional services industry:
- Resolving user and system issues and managing related support tickets, developing and maintaining user training material, ensuring consistent methodology is deployed for data creation and integrity
- Supporting the configuration and implementation of system modules, data feeds and continued improvements of the HRIS (Workday) to support organizational and People & Culture operational objectives
- Working directly with People Services Team, liaising with broader People and Culture community and Finance/IT team members for all employee transactional process review including enhancements within HRIS (Workday)
- Continually identifying and exploring opportunities for Workday to improve the everyday experience of our colleagues.
The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic team player who loves people, systems and processes, is committed to providing exceptional client-focused service and advice, has a can-do attitude, and who can critically review and improve existing system and related processes. Strong technical knowledge in HRIS and analytical acumen is critical for this position. Workday experience will be a great asset.
This position is a part of Grant Thornton’s National People and Culture Workday team which operates within the People and Culture Services department. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to learn, grow and influence at many levels as part of a leading-edge People and Culture practice. As an HRIS Specialist your responsibilities will include: - Provide first line of support to the Firm’s internal HRIS (Workday) tickets, present and coordinate the issue case to external Workday Partner ticketing center and/or Workday Support Center
- Actively increase knowledge and skills related to areas of Human Capital Management (HCM) on a regular basis through Workday Community
- Monitors HRIS mailbox and ensures tickets are being routed, internal and external customers are promptly responded to and issues are resolved in a timely manner
- Maintain organization foundational data in Workday including, department and location data, position management, compensation administration data, performance management data, etc.
- Maintains business process configuration and identifying opportunities to alter business processes and configuration to enhance or simplify current processes which aligns to Workday’s methodology
- Maintain HRIS security (including but not limited to adding, changing and deleting, user ID's, passwords, role based permissions, etc.)
- Contributes to the design, development, generation &/or maintenance of dashboards, visualizations, and reports that demonstrates a connection between People & Culture programs and business outcomes
- Provide ongoing support for system upgrades, new HRIS releases, enhancements, testing (including developing, documenting and executing test plans), validation and overall performance; analyze software releases to assess the impact of new features in HRIS
- Provide support in the creating training and process documentation after changes in HRIS procedures are implemented
Monitor compliance of various People Services processes with current practices, policies and programs. Provide Workday business process analysis to review and improve HR process efficiencies
- Ensures data integrity within Workday and downstream systems by developing audit processes and analyses
- Work with functional leads &/or stakeholders such as People & Culture, Payroll, Technology and Finance to complete HCM development and enhancement projects to gather requirements and translate technical requirements to consultant/developer

Here's a few more boxes we’re also hoping you can tick: - Bachelor's degree in Business Information System/Human Resources or related field
- Minimum of 3 years of HRIS experience; Core HCM, Absence Management, Payroll, Compensation, Benefits and Talent modules, preferred in Workday
- Advanced Excel experience working with large data sets utilizing advanced formulas and functionality
- Good understanding of People and Culture (HR) functional areas in related to HRIS
- Experience troubleshooting end user and systems interface issues and HRIS in a mid- to large-sized organization
- Excellent research and problem-solving skills
- High level of confidentiality and diplomacy required
- Demonstrate the qualities of a self-starter and one who follows through on all job duties
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to work well and collaborate in team environment
- Exceptional time management, project planning, and communication skills, both verbal & written
- Professional services industry and a Centre of Excellence environment is preferred
- Able to work as needed beyond regular work schedules to meet deadlines
