VPIC is looking to hire a driven, hands-on contributor for the role of Operations Analyst. The role reports directly to and will be mentored by the Director of Operations and is located in our Winnipeg office.
The Operations Analyst provides critical, high-level support to the VPIC Team and is responsible for account and systems administration, reconciliation, and reporting processes. The Operations Analyst collaborates with the Trading Team, Client Service, and VPIC Custodian to ensure the accurate and efficient execution of day-to-day operational processes. The Operations Analyst also supports the VPIC Team with the maintenance of process and procedural documentation and provides recommendations for, and updates regarding, continuous improvement of the operations function to VPIC leaders.
Responsibilities
Book of Record Administration & Reconciliation
- Maintain accurate and up to date client account information in the portfolio management (PM) system
- Review and update book values as assets transfer in
- Import daily trade blotters and input client transactions
- Ensure accurate and efficient account opening; set up records for new clients and accounts in PM, CRM, and portal systems
- Develop and maintain payment schedule for Auto Buys / PACs / SWPs
- Complete daily reconciliation between custody and PM systems between 7:00 am and 9:00 am each morning to ensure custodian records are accurate
- Ensure trades settle as requested and client requests have been executed per VPIC instruction
- Validate custodian pricing and investigate areas outside range of tolerance as needed
- Collaborate with Trading and Client Service Teams, and custodian to triage, troubleshoot, and resolve operational, client, and trading issues
- Liaise with PM software vendor to resolve technical issues as may be required
Continuous Improvement, Special Projects, and Initiatives
- Collaborate with the Operations Team to review and document existing processes and procedures in support of continuous improvement and operational excellence
- Assist the Director of Operations and other VPIC leaders with special projects and initiatives related, but not limited, to operational reporting, data quality and integrity
- Other duties as assigned
Education & Experience
- Undergraduate degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, or related discipline
- Willingness to expand on professional qualifications by completing the CSC or similar program
- Related experience in an investment or financial services environment, knowledge of the Canadian Securities industry is considered an asset
- A combination of education and experience will be considered
Technical Knowledge
- Knowledge of investment management principles, best practices, and emerging trends
- Technical fluency with the ability to learn and adapt to new technology effectively
- Working knowledge of Salesforce, PM software, and advisor operating systems are an asset
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams
