OUR CLIENT Our client, a leading multi-disciplinary consulting firm in Western Canada, is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join their team in Edmonton. This firm are well established and work with the design of electrical systems for commercial, civic, institutional, and industrial projects. They are in need of a more senior candidate to support the electrical lead with leadership responsibilities including managing projects and clients.
THE ROLE - The Electrical Engineer will be involved in a wide range of tasks including and not limited to:
- Performs analysis, design, and model of more complex electrical building systems and elements for various construction projects
- Ensures that elements of design, modelling, and detailing adhere to relevant jurisdictional codes and coordinates elements with the architectural, mechanical, and structural engineering designs
- Perform basic engineering activities such as calculations, code research, material and building systems research, laying out components and calculation of program and building areas
- Provide assistance to the architect by providing project change documentation during contract administration
- Demonstrate an ability to collaborate with other professional disciplines
- Assists with writing of design reports, comparison of systems, and in determination of system feasibilities
- Performs fundamental engineering calculations to determine systems configuration and capacity
- Conducts site surveys and field reviews to ensure accurate documentation of existing and new construction conditions
- Provides guidance to junior engineers and technical staff assigned to a common task
- Work with clients and stakeholders throughout project execution
- Provide leadership to junior staff
WHAT'S REQUIRED - Possesses at least 8+ years of electrical engineering and/or electrical design experience
- Is a Licensed Professional Engineer with APEGA or relevant association
- Must have excellent communication interpersonal, and problem solving skills, able to work independently and take a lead role
- Demonstrate an understanding of quality standards relative to electrical design and planning, engineering fundamentals and principles.
- Abel to mentor and manage staff
- Strong client liaison skills
- Strong design skills with regards to designing electrical systems for buildings
- Must possess knowledge of Electrical Safety Code regulations for relevant jurisdiction
- Is proficient in Revit
- Demonstrate an ability to collaborate with other professional disciplines
