JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of a Transportation Field Coordinator
Reporting to the Manager, this position is responsible to the Section Manager - Projects, the Project Leader is responsible for leading a portfolio of multidisciplinary projects in support of the operation and sustainment of OPG’s Northeast Production (North Bay to Sudbury to Kapuskasing) . This role is accountable for leading matrix project execution teams and coordinating project planning and execution.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Ensure work is executed safely, on time and on budget; promote safety as an overriding priority in all activities performed.
- Lead and administer the organization, coordination and execution of industrial multidiscipline project portfolios, comprising such projects as generation and associated with the generation portion of the Bulk Electricity System.
- Lead matrix project execution teams.
- Co-ordinate and participate in the preparation of specifications, bid packages, evaluation of tenders, and purchasing recommendations.
- Arrange and lead meetings to coordinate the requirements of, and progress by designers, suppliers, construction and operations before and after contract award.
- Maintain close liaison with field construction forces and operations on matters involving design, schedules, costing, and other related issues.
- Coordinate and be responsible for project documentation.
- Ensure appropriate Project Management and Contract Management governance is followed.
- Collaborate with key project stakeholders and drive accountability.
- Set clear expectations for staff and contractors.
- Drive performance to meet project quality, schedule and cost targets.
- Promote a team environment whereby Oversight staff and Contractor staff strive to build a trusting relationship and work together as a team.
- Other Duties as Required
EDUCATION
- 4-year University Degree, Engineering, Science or Business; plus completion of post-secondary courses in project management and business economics as it relates to project and asset management or by having the equivalent level of education.
- Project Management Institute (PMI) certification is considered an asset and
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation is considered an asset.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 6 years of experience in industrial project management, specifically, in developing project requirements and plans; preparing cost estimates; participating in contract bidding and award processes, managing projects in execution phase, and managing project closeout.
- Multiple years experience managing multidiscipline projects in a heavy industrial environment. Preference will be given to applicants with heavy industrial electrical or mechanical background.
- Prior experience in managing conflicting priorities of scope, schedule, cost and quality.
- Sound knowledge and familiarity with equipment and processes in generating stations or similar heavy industries.
- Excellent problem solving abilities and the ability provide guidance.
- Experience and knowledge of cost accounting and forecasting as it relates to project management.
- Prior experience applying commercial contracting methods, contract management, construction methods, codes and standards, quality assurance and health and safety.
- Proven ability as a team player to understand and manage the interrelationships of various internal and external groups in order to facilitate objectives and ensure projects satisfy stakeholder requirements.
- Demonstrated experience addressing environmental protection and associated concerns.
- Experience in managing projects of increasing complexity is considered a necessary requirement; project complexity would normally be defined by multiple-contract, multiple stakeholder projects with schedule constraints.
- Possess strong interpersonal, organizational and planning skills and
- Must pocessess a valid G drriver’s license in good standing.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a flexible hybrid office environment.
