THE ROLE Under the supervision of the Inside Sales Supervisor, the Applications Specialist is responsible for providing expert technical applications support and solutions to customers involving product/equipment selection, costing, and proposals. This position is also responsible for meeting all sales targets set by the Company and achieving annual sales growth. The Applications Specialist will possess a high level of pump technical knowledge and will be responsible for familiarity of product availability, use, application, benefits and pricing structures.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Provide Exceptional Customer Service:
- Efficient and accurate entry of customer orders
- Responding to customer inquiries and providing status updates efficiently
- Working with the purchasing department to expedite customer orders when required
- Processes customer sales orders; completes a thorough review of order requirements performing a detailed entry of all data necessary to process the order
- Tracks order status and follows-up on open orders with suppliers/vendors
Support Outside Sales Team:
- Demonstrating awareness of company, branch, and territory targets and strategies
- Identifying and relaying customer opportunities, issues and concerns
- Building customer relationships
- Executing quotation follow-up; including maintaining and updating sales quote and relative customer information in the CRM database
Product Selection and Quotation Preparation:
- Identifying customer needs (delivery times, product, price, etc.)
- Supporting customers with product selection, costing, proposals, application expertise, and after-sales follow-ups
- Coordinating with suppliers as needed
- Utilizes data sheets and reviews bid specifications to ensure all data provided to customers is clear, concise, and complete, and providing quality bids in a reasonable timeframe
- Providing technical information based on engineering principles
- Developing advanced knowledge of our order entry and CRM software
- Preparing Engineered Submittal Package for orders/projects and submits for review
- Coordinates with and submits submittal packages to suppliers/vendors for approval and advises once released for production
Implement the Company's Strategies and Visions:
- Acting on the opportunity to make upsells or sell products from our other divisions
- Promote the service and repair of all products offered by John Brooks
Requirements
Essential:
- College Diploma in a related field
- Fluent in English & French
- A minimum of 3-6 years of related experience
- Advanced computer skills; proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word etc.)
- Must exude enthusiasm, passion, confidence, and an optimistic attitude
- A positive mindset with a strong technical aptitude, attention to detail and a general understanding of industrial processes
- Be able to “think on your feet”, problem solve, and demonstrate creativity
- Must be driven and determined to win orders
- Must be collaborative and a supportive team player
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills
- Must take ownership of own actions and demonstrate initiative

Desirable:
- Working knowledge of industry products, systems and applications is an asset; specifically, fluid mechanics and dynamics, and rotating equipment/machinery
- Working knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software systems
