Job description

The Empire Banquet and Conference centre is a unique Wedding, Reception, Birthday and corporate Event Venue in Surrey BC. (Located in the York Centre 128 street and 80th Avenue) 2 Banquet Halls With state-of-the-art sound, lighting and Video, Professional DJ, Decor specialists. The Empire is equipped with a state-of-the-art kitchen, in which our talented chefs can create you a unique menu that suits your taste and flavors. With artistic presentation and rich flavors, our chefs are highly passionate about the cuisines that they offer. Catering for a range of communities and cultures, our in-house chefs can prepare superb menus for all backgrounds including Punjabi and Western menus.

Job Duties
• Properly wash, stack, and stores china, glassware, silverware, cookware, and storage containers using dishwasher or by hand
• Wash and peel vegetables and fruit
• Clean and sanitize items such as dishwasher mats, carts and waste disposal units
• Ensuring the availability of clean dishes by bussing tables, washing dishes, pots, pans, and flatware, and resetting dining areas
• Remove dishes before and after courses
• Preparing dining areas and kitchen for next shift by cleaning and restocking dining areas and cook stations
• Cleaning machines and appliances used in the kitchen, such as coffee makers, pots, and pans, mixers
• Unloading and storing deliveries
• Sweeping and mopping floors
• Taking out the trash and rinsing garbage cans
• Supporting other banquet kitchen staff members who prepare and serve food
• Sweep and mop floors, and perform other duties to assist cook and kitchen staff
• Clean, peel, slice and trim foodstuffs using manual and electric appliances

Employment requirements

• No formal education is required
• On-the-job training is provided. No prior experience is required
• Minimal communication skills in English are sufficient to perform the job duties safely
• Ability to perform under fast paced environment
• Availability to work in shifts, during weekends and evenings
• Ability to follow instructions and help with various tasks, as needed
