Job Status : Full-time. In-office with regional leadership team, on-site with travel to project sites
ABOUT THIS CAREER OPPORTUNITY
The Human Resources Director will play a leadership role in the achievement of the Southern Ontario Regions (North America wide project sites) people related goals. A true partner to senior leadership with an accomplished background leading HR in a highly matrixed, multi-location business. Your solid understanding of the construction industry and strong business acumen is essential to forming the relationships required to become a trusted partner to business leaders.
The Human Resources Director will lead and mentor a busy human resources department, and provide them with the necessary resources and needs to support the people related needs of the organization. The HR Director is located in Scarborough, ON and reports directly to the Sr. Vice President, within a dynamic and growing business portfolio. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Lead HR portions of the implementation and startup of major projects, implementing creative strategies to support the needs of project infrastructure requirements related to people and process.
- Develop and facilitate regional HR strategic planning and implementation annually.
- Critically evaluate and develop key and pro-active HR strategies, designed to support, and meet business needs, including the coordination of workforce planning on a recurring basis.
- Actively mentor and coach team members to ensure knowledge transfer, subject matter expertise and business intelligence is shared throughout the team;
- Plan human resource requirements in conjunction with senior leadership.
- Provide Division Managers and/or designated person with HR information, interpretation, guidance, and direction on company policies and procedures as they relate to Human Resources;
- Subject matter expert for internal investigations and provide corrective action recommendations;
- Strategic HR member of National Human Resources Council and provide assistance as required;
- Oversee Employee Survey programs (engagement, new hire, exit, etc.) and review results to provide regional improvement recommendations.
- Manage annual HR processes including; talent assessments, compensation review, succession planning, etc;
- Attend and participate in leadership meetings, as required.
- Develop and manage the regional HR strategy and implement evolving solutions.
- Act as a resource to operational managers with respect to employee and labour relations strategies, collective agreement interpretation, and union labour disputes.
- Be a subject matter expert in understanding of provincial employment standards, and act as an internal resource to organizational leadership.
- Maintain the departmental budget for the HR team, initiatives, and expenditures.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- An undergraduate degree or diploma/certificate related to personnel management such as Human Resource Management; Business Administration; Commerce; Industrial Relations; Psychology.
- Accreditaion through HRPA is highly desirable (CHRL or CHRE)
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- 12+ years of experience working within the Human Resources field, with experience in a leadership capacity.
- Experience in a matrixed organization will be considered an asset.
- Experience in a unionized construction multi-trade environment will be considered an asset.
