The Senior Pastor as the first among equals, will lead and care for the other elders, deacons and members of the church. This man of God will help the church to fulfill her calling. He will work towards healthy teamwork and collaboration, good communication, and mutual respect. Responsibilities The senior pastor will provide shepherd leadership in the following general areas of responsibility reporting to the Deacons Board: ❖ Preaching and Worship Services: o Serve as the primary preacher in our services, maintaining balance in terms of doctrine, principles of our Christian faith, knowledge of the Word, and application of those principles to our daily lives. o Provide oversight of weekly worship services. ❖ Pastoral Care: o Provide spiritual care for the individuals in the congregation: visitation, counselling, officiate ceremonies. o Lead and develop Pastoral Team providing congregational care. ❖ Discipleship: o Disciple and equip the congregation to grow in Christian maturity. o Provide mentorship for staff and those interested in church ministry. ❖ Leadership: o Provide leadership and vision for the various ministries at BRBC, locally and globally. o Delevop community outreach initiatives. ❖ Self-development and accountability: o Maintain a self-development and accountability program which will keep both personal and church life in balance. o Keep an organized transparent schedule. o Attend conferences, seminars and preach outside BRBC occasionally. ❖ Administration: o Oversee and work alongside church staff and members running various church activities. “We do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake.” Position Requirements • A sinner saved by grace; who demonstrates a mature and still-growing spiritual walk with God through Jesus Christ. • An exemplary life and spiritual gifting as shepherd-teacher as described in 1 Timothy 3, 1 Peter 5, and Titus 1. • Demonstrates sound Biblical knowledge and practical experience in pastoral leadership. • A willingness to commit to the ministry at BRBC a minimum of 2 years. • Must have Bible college training or seminary training. (M.Div or MTS preferably) • Substantial experience in Church Ministry an asset. • Proven ministerial competence and leadership. • Supportive references as to character and competenciesfrom congregation and his peers. • Agreement with and adherence to the BRBC Articles of Faith and Church Constitution Benefits As the Senior Pastor of BRBC you will be part of a growing church with approximently 150 weekly attendents. A few thing BRBC is committed to are: • Reformed Doctrine: BRBC is unashamedly reformed in our practice and teaching, aliging with The Baptist Confession of Faith”, London, 1689. • Prayer: BRBC is a praying church with 5+ scheduled prayer meetings throughout the week. • Hospitality: BRBC members regularly are sharing meals and caring for one another. • Missions: BRBC supports the needs of a group in Malawi, through food, training and evanglism.
