Youth Activity Supervisor

Job description
The City of Moose Jaw is seeking individuals to serve as Youth Activity Supervisor for the Parks & Recreation Department. Reporting to the Recreation Services Supervisor, the Youth Activity Supervisor is responsible for:
- Plan, organize and schedule summer youth activities based on the Principles of Healthy Childhood Development
- Provide a recreation program that is conductive to promoting participation regardless of skill or ability
- Prepare daily and weekly activity reports, attendance, damage and accident/incident reports
- Keep facility & equipment secure and inspect all locations to ensure a safe program environment
- Ensure all participants adhere to the rules of the program and initiate appropriate actions as required
- Provide supervision for the various activities taking place in the facilities parks and outdoor spaces
- Work cooperatively with staff members and maintain open lines of communication with parents, participants, supervisors and partners
- Address inquiries from parents, participants and the general public, investigate incidents, complaints and problems to ensure proper follow-up actions
- Respond to first aid and emergency situations as required
- Lead a safety-focused culture within their area by promoting positive attitudes towards health and safety
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Recreation/Kinesiology, Early Childhood, Education or other program OR related experience
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C
- High-Five Principles of Healthy Childhood Development
- Ability to physically and mentally perform duties required in an emergency situation
- 3 months experience in recreation programming and the ability to supervise youth 13-17 years of age
- Able to operate specialized application software
- Ability to deal courteously and tactfully with the public
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License
