Job Description
Reporting to the Head of Underwriting, this role will support the organization in executing the following core business functions:
- Analytics;
- Underwriting;
- Corporate Initiatives
- Supporting Customer needs
This role will collaborate with the business area and the principal attorney to support the key initiatives and operation of our insurance reciprocal (MUNIX) and the overall insurance program. The position is responsible for analyzing, interpreting, and reporting on complex data models and uses knowledge and experience to ensure the data in the reports are accurate and helps drive business decisions. The role performs tasks related to the identification and management of the strategic and operational risks associated with MUNIX and our Insurance Program.
The core competencies and responsibilities as outlined, will be applicable and performed for the Alberta Municipalities and all Associated Entities.

Know-How
Practical / Technical Knowledge
- Post-secondary education in Commerce, Statistics, or Economics, or an acceptable combination of work experience and a college diploma from a related field.
- The following Licenses
- At least 5 years of progressive experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of data modelling and data manipulation.
- Skilled at data manipulation and Pivot table analysis in Excel.
- Perform data analysis and create sophisticated graphical reports (advanced skills).
- Experience with web metrics and online performance analysis tools is an asset.
- Experience in interpreting and reporting results of analysis and experience in data processing and file management is necessary.
- Experience in the Property and Casualty insurance sector is preferred.
- Experience in a municipal, public sector, association, and/or non-profit environment is an asset.
- Highly competent computer skills (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Project Management).
- Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP)
- Level 1 General Insurance License is preferred.
- Certification in Enterprise Risk Management is an asset.
- Canadian Risk Management (CRM) is an asset.

Responsibilities
Analytics
- Provide Directors and Executive Officers with proactive information and reports that assists decision making.
- Support Directors and Executive Officers with both internal and external business intelligence.
- Manipulate data as needed for the purposes of data extraction, data transformation, data loading, and data migration.
- Develop/support various models for financial and business analyses.
- Provide data to support key performance indicators in the insurance organization’s business plans.
- Receive and prioritize requests for data reports and information.
Supporting key Initiatives related to MUNIX
- Work on/support key strategic initiatives related to MUNIX and our Insurance Program.
- Assist Head of Underwriting as they Liaise with the Principle Attorney, CFO and Insurance organization team for key action items related to MUNIX .
- Support the development of pricing and risk models for MUNIX .
- Support the review and implementation of wordings for the Insurance program
- Support the underwriting requirements for the annual renewal process
- Update materials for the board and other applicable reports.
Support the day to day Underwriting needs for the Insurance Program
- Assist the Head of Underwriting in day to day requirements for Underwriting
- Support pricing build outs for customers.
- Support the underwriting work required for responding to RFPs
