At Open Farm, we are passionate about sharing our message of sustainable, ethically sourced nutrition with pet parents. We are looking for someone who shares this belief to join as our R&D Intern.
The Role: If you would like to be a part of a talented team that is making a difference in pet care and share a passion for sustainability, we are currently looking for an R&D Intern to contribute to the development of Open Farm’s raw materials. This role will also provide any related support through performing assigned tasks while receiving hands-on experience in the verification, documentation and validation of these components. In this position you will:
Responsibilities
- Work closely with internal teams (Procurement, QA, R&D, Impact) and external teams (co-manufacturers, outside labs, external suppliers) in reviewing new/alternative raw materials. Raw materials shall comply with OF’s Brand Standard.
- Support R&D, Quality, Procurement, and Co-man teams via organizing and/or tracking formulas in share point.
- Support R&D, Procurement, and QA teams via drafting and/or finalizing raw materials and/or finished products specifications.
- Support R&D and QA teams on maintaining nutrient trackers from sample submissions to nutrient review. Alert R&D and QA teams on any AAFCO/GA deviation and/or trends.
- Support R&D, QA, and Procurement teams via drafting or updating SOP’s if applicable.
- Support QA team by:
a. Updating and/or maintaining traceability documentations for all raw materials
b. Updating and/or maintaining quality and/or food safety documentations for all co-manufacturers
c. Tracking food safety and quality metrics on finished products
You Have
- Relevant education in Science, Research and Development or another relevant field
- An understanding of R&D fundamentals, researching and documentation practices
- Curiosity and a drive to dig into problems to gain a deep understanding
- Excellent soft skills
