Job description
Our client, a contractor, firmly established in Quebec, specializing in industrial process projects carrying out piping, mechanical, boilermaking, ventilation and structural projects in Canadian heavy industry, is currently looking for a manager (e) senior project.
Nature of position
Under the supervision of the company's management, you will be responsible for the profitability of the projects under your supervision in addition to supporting your operational team in order to maintain an adequate level of performance and achieve success, through coaching, support and reviews. As such you will see to:
- Promote and ensure respect for our values in all operations;
- Find an original approach that allows us to present a competitive price to the client with the expected gross profit margin;
- Participate in the preparation of submissions for its projects;
- Carry out regular site and customer visits;
- Maintain harmonious relationships with customers;
- Promote and ensure prevention in all operations;
- Carry out health and safety audits of its construction sites during each of its visits;
- Participate in the risk assessment relating to your projects, in collaboration with the OHS coordinator;
- Be responsible for monitoring (costs and schedules) of your projects (contracts), including design, drawing, manufacturing and installation in order to achieve the targeted gross margin;
- Supervise your projects including the negotiation of specialized purchases and subcontractors, the preparation and monitoring of the project schedule, monitor the execution of projects by communicating with the superintendent and the site foreman ( including site visits on a regular basis) and ensure ongoing customer satisfaction;
- Coordinate and supervise your supervision team in the field, while supporting them on a daily basis with coaching;
- Carry out annual assessments of the contribution of the supervision team in the field;
- Promote other services offered by the company;
- Help other project managers by sharing your expertise;
- Take the necessary initiatives when required;
- Perform any other tasks compatible with your duties.
Required qualification
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or any other relevant training;
- Have 10 years of experience in project management;
- Solid experience in the industrial and institutional sector;
- Functional bilingualism in French and English, both oral and written;
- Ability to analyze the issues and commercial risks of projects;
- Knowledge of the Quebec and Canadian market in the construction and industrial maintenance sector;
- Demonstrate leadership, autonomy, initiative and remain on the lookout for professional development opportunities;
- Ability to manage upstream and downstream customer relationships;
- Member in good standing of the Order of Engineers of Quebec, an asset.
