Some of what you will do
This individual will have an extensive understanding of Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, etc.) with an ability to translate and convey technical concepts to a wide audience within Staples Canada. In this role you must understand emerging technologies in a fast-paced environment, possess the ability to work with internal and external stakeholders in a positive manner and deliver projects of competing priorities across Staples.
Specifically, you will:
- Facilitate discussion leading to collective decision-making, goal setting and conflict resolution within the team
- Remove impediments to delivery success through the proactive management of external dependencies, medium-to-high complexity team problem-solving and the development of new solutions or approaches to ongoing challenges; has the authority to execute against new approaches and escalate issues through business and/or IT channels where necessary.
- Accountable for creating and maintaining the appropriate vehicles for open communication within the scrum team (e.g. tracker boards) to create a trusting and safe team environment.
- Continuously seek to improve team performance by promoting joint accountability for results and solving productivity issues.
- Facilitate and engage in business analysis, user experience and technical conversations across platforms and multiple levels of influence.
- Communicate cross functionally, ensuring transparency of progress and outcomes; Report team progress and accomplishment up and across; Facilitate status updates, product demos and retrospective
- Prepare Sprint reporting and metrics (Burndown/Burnup charts, team performance, etc. )
- Prepare presentations conveying team performance and completed work
Some of what you need
- University Degree/Post-Secondary education required, or related experience preferred
- 2+ years of working on medium-to-high complexity initiatives
- 2+ years of experience as a Scrum Master – where Scrum principles, practices and theory were diligently applied
- 5+ years of experience in software development or business (system) analysis or other relevant professional experience
- PMP considered an asset
- Agile Coach considered an asset
- Certified Scrum Master / Agile Practitioner
- Project / Program delivery in Agile and/or Waterfall environment (medium-to-large scale initiatives) using influence to facilitate to outcomes
- Practical experience managing a software development team using Agile Scrum methodology
- Practical experience with of the key disciplines required in agile delivery – such as software development or business (system) analysis• Strong understanding of retail applications
- Software Development experience
- Agile certifications
- Traditional SDLC experience
- Experience working in startup environments
- Experience communicating formally and informally in a large institution
- Familiarity with design thinking and customer centric design
