Job description
Dufferin Child and Family Services is a multi-service agency providing Children’s Mental Health, Child Protection and Developmental Support.
The agency currently requires:
1 Permanent Full-Time - Resource Consultant (iCAN program)
Under the direction of the Manager, Early Years Programs, you will work closely with the Senior Resource Consultant to support children 0-12 years of age with additional needs who have been referred for service through the iCAN program and who attend a Licensed Childcare or Before/After School Program in Dufferin County. You will promote the optimal well-being and development of children in all areas of their development and functioning, and ensure that programs are inclusive and developmentally appropriate. You will provide education, consultation, and special needs resourcing support, working in partnership with program staff, families and other service providers.

We are seeking an innovative individual who has:
- Relevant experience providing consultative support to children, caregivers and childcare staff in early childhood settings (includes infants, toddlers, preschool and school-age children).
- Highly developed knowledge of child development and effective strategies and interventions for children with a wide variety of additional support needs and diagnoses.
- A thorough understanding of the philosophy and strategies for providing high quality, inclusive programming.
- Demonstrated advocacy, service coordination and case management experience, and can act as a liaison between the family, centre, school and other community team members to ensure that children and families receive the services and supports they need.
- A strong commitment and sensitivity to issues of diversity, equity and inclusion, and engages in reflective practice
- Excellent organizational, communication and problem solving skills.
- An ability to work collaboratively with early childhood educators and caregivers to develop service and individual support plans for children according to agency policies and Ministry guidelines.
- Computer proficiency with MS Office, Outlook and various database/software applications (experience with Caseworks is an asset).
Required:
- A degree or diploma in Early Childhood Education PLUS either a Resource Teacher Certificate or Certificate of Advanced Studies in Special Needs (or equivalency).
- Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE).
- Must be available to work flexible hours to accommodate the needs of childcare programs and families (early morning, evening and Monday-Friday availability when required).
- A valid G Class Ontario’s Driver’s License and access to a personal vehicle with appropriate liability insurance, as this role requires regular travel across Dufferin County.
