Description:

Located in the heart of the Ottawa Valley in the eastern region of Ontario, the district is bound by the Ottawa River on the east, Algonquin Park on the west, with the southern-most schools located in Arnprior and the northern-most school in Deep River. The district is situated on traditional Algonquin territory. The RCDSB has approximately 9,500 students in seven secondary schools and 23 elementary schools across the county. In addition, the district has four adult and continuing education sites in Arnprior, Renfrew, Pembroke and Petawawa. The RCDSB’s education office is located in Pembroke.

For the position of Supervisory Officer-Superintendent of Education, commencing June 3, 2024 or at a mutually agreeable date, the district is seeking a dynamic and energetic educational leader who:

The Role:

The successful candidate will report to the Director of Education. As part of the director’s executive council, Superintendents of Education are assigned roles and responsibilities for supervising and supporting elementary and secondary schools, as well as central portfolios or departments. The successful candidate is recognized for their expertise in instructional leadership, operational management, and organizational citizenship, including demonstrable examples of initiatives and/or projects led successfully. Additionally, the successful candidate must have an excellent performance appraisal within the last five years.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a breadth and depth of knowledge, skills and experiences as a school and/or system leader, including a thorough understanding of the legislation and regulations of the Education Act. In addition to being a person of integrity and vision, excellent interpersonal, collaboration, communication, critical thinking and problem solving skills are expected.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of five years of experience as an administrator in schools and/or central departments, and provide qualifications as a supervisory officer (or currently registered in SOQP and attainment of qualifications as part of conditions of employment). Experience at both school and system levels is considered an asset, as is fluency in French.
